Rugby Accommodation Auckland

The Rugby has started and not with a few transportation hassles.
Considering our local train company have spent millions of dollars upgradings stations and the railway tracks this was still not enough to cope with the crowds.
One of our guests decided to catch the train from Ellerslie to Britomart which takes about 12 minutes, but I guess everyone south of Ellerslie decided to do the samething and leave early ie 2pm to make the most of the celebrations down at the water front. It took about 2 hours before he and his girlfriend were able to catch a train (perhaps the bus may have been quicker).
I guess the catch 22 was that media were advertising that they only wanted 50,000 people down at the waterfront so I guess everyone left early as not to miss out.
And then chaos begins as reported apporximatley 200,000 people went down to the water front and hence the trains just couldn't cope.
Another guest who went to the opening ceremony thought he was on train that was an express meaning it didn't stop but went direct to Eden Park. Unlucky for him as it stopped at every station on the way.
But after the opening ceremony and as he was following the green feet out of Eden Park he headed for the station only to wait for an hour before he could head down to the vaiduct for all the celebrations. Unknown to him that the Britomart Station was overflowing at the seams and it wasn't until he got to the Mt Eden Station that he and all the passengers were told the train stops here and you will have to walk the rest of the way into town. (I guess the positive side of this, is it wasn't raining) As our lovely guest strolled along a well thought out plan with the volunteers offering directions and waving there strobe lights he was starting to get a bit thirsty.
As every bar he walked past was full or had a queue outside. But I had to laugh at his comment as he came around a corner and in the distance he could see an Irish Bar with no queues so he started to put on the pace as he was only about 80 metres away. And then out of no where 40 other walkers (aged in the early 20's)who were also starting to get a thirst on - legged it as they to saw no queues and bet him to the goal post.
By the time our guest got to the bar, the bouncer said we are full! (LOL)
Hopefully we wont see the same drama over the next few weeks for the rest of the games.
